Roberts first began working for the CBC in 1976, starting her career on the East Coast. In 2004, she became host of CBC Radio One's ''All Points West'', a weekday afternoon radio program produced at the CBC Victoria (B.C.) broadcast centre, a position she held for ten years. In December 2014, Roberts retired in order to campaign against funding cuts to the CBC and pursue a political career. On 24 January 2015, Roberts announced she would be seeking the Green Party of Canada nomination in Victoria for the upcoming federal election.
